
TEACHERS’
COURSES
Two such courses have been organised so far, the last one being in 2004. In this last course, the RCGP tutors were Profs. Rosslynne Freeman and Dr. Marek Jesierski, whereas, Dr. Doreen Cassar and Dr. Mario Sammut were chosen as co-tutors. Dr. Philip Sciortino and Dr. Pierre Mallia provided active support.
The 14 participants of the course were: Dr.Jurgen Abela, Dr.Diane Balzan, Dr. Jason Bonnici, Dr. Ron Borg, Dr.Anton Bugeja, Dr. Noel Caruana, Dr.Saviour Cilia, Dr.Josianne Cutajar, Dr.Patricia De Gabriele, Dr.Sandra Falzon Camilleri, Dr.Mark Rosso, Dr. Daniel Sammut, Dr. Zaid Teebi and Dr. Andrew Zammit.

DIPLOMAS
In 2001, a one-year Distance Learning Diploma in Therapeutics for General Practice was organised by the Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP) for 14 Maltese family doctors, under the auspices of the MCFD.
Following the great success of this initiative, two other diplomas of the ICGP were organised - namely a Diploma in Prevention and Health Promotion (2003), and a Diploma in Women's Health (2004). A Certificate in Diabetes was also done in 2007.
A one-day Brief Intervention Training Workshop on Smoking Cessation in General Practice was also held in Malta in October 2003. The facilitators were from the ICGP and STAG (Smoking Target Action Group).
